Steve Jobs Resigns. Tim Cook as New CEO of Apple, Inc.

Steve Jobs Resigns as CEO of Apple, Inc.

Today, the man who changed the way we use our mobile phones has resigned from his post as CEO of Apple, Inc.  Steve Jobs, 56 has been battling with his health for quite some time now and has reportedly written on his resignation letter: "I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know, to the Apple board of directors and the Apple community."

According to the Apple Board of Directors, Jobs handed his resignation Wednesday and has recommended Tim Cook as Apple's new CEO.  Jobs further adds: "I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee."  This the board granted.

This announcement will likely be marked as the end of one of the most extraordinary careers in the U.S. business history.  Steve Jobs has clearly played a central role in reshaping the mobile phone business.  It is to be remembered that Jobs co-founded Apple and the computer industry along with it.
