Hot! Hot! Hot!

The heat and humidity these days is a nightmare! The fact that this happens to our country every single year, you would think I would be used to it by now, but sadly, I feel like it's getting worse every single year. Imagine taking a bath and then minutes after stepping out of the bathroom, sweat is already dripping from your newly bathed self. That is how humid and hot it is here these days. Our water bill is already high from the constant bathing we all do.

I am just happy that the husband and I decided to invest in air conditioning when we got married. It's really a life saver in this sweltering heat! We have our unit turned on almost half of the day!

Foot Getting Better

My foot is slowly getting better. We found out that the reason for the continued swelling was due to the excessive walking I do when I go to work. Not to mention the flight of stairs that I need to climb in order to get to the other side. The swelling is down now. I resorted to taking a cab everyday, to and from work my pockets are crying from the cab fares. :(

My Summer Scent

I know I blogged earlier about my addiction to perfumes hahaha! Just to prove my point I am blogging about it again. I just want to talk about my favorite Scent - Burberry Summer!

It is so perfect these days as it is summer on my end of the globe. I love the sweet, fruity scent it gives out, very mild yet a feast for the nose! I often get good comments from my friends when I wear that scent on me. They love sitting beside me and smelling the scent away hahaha! I know Burberry Summer will be a constant perfume on my dresser. I hope when I finish this one bottle that I get to buy one again.

How about you? What's your favorite scent?

Halo halong Updates

If Monday was a slow day at work, Wednesday was busy! I extended my stay in the office and still have tons of work to do. Sigh! I miss sleeping and I miss the husbo. huhuhu! Good thing it's his rest day tomorrow. We are going out but not on a date. He's taking me to the hospital to check on my foot. I can walk normally now with slight pains here and there but I'm scared because the swelling has been going on and off. If I put my foot up for a couple of hours the swelling goes down but once I start walking it comes back. It's as if water goes down to my right foot when I walk. Sigh! Sigh! Sigh!

Michael Sheen as Lucian in Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

On a different note, it is now confirmed that Michael Sheen, the actor who played as Lucian in Underworld, Rise of the Lycans was casted as Aro for The Twilight Saga: New Moon movie. For those who don't know, Aro is a charcter in the Twilight Saga. Aro is the leader of the Volturi, an Italian based coven who, as per Edward Cullen, is like their version of Royalty. I am excited because I think Michael Sheen will do a good job as Aro as he is no stranger to the vampire world. I just think he's old for Aro? What do you guys think?

Yamaha ATV Recall

I forgot I didn't post about our recent beach trip here. Jeez, I must be getting old. Anyway, I'll be posting more about that soon. I just remembered that there was one incident on that trip that I will never forget.

One of the activities that we made sure not to miss, was this trip up a mountain using an ATV. Not knowing how to drive anything, I was initially scared but excited at the same time. There were 11 of us in total so imagine the surprise of the renting company manager when he saw us lol! Nevertheless off we went on a single straight line to the mountain using our ATV. It was exhilirating. When we reached the mountain, the view was breathtaking! We spent about an hour on the mountain and then prepared our way back to the renters place. The trip down was not as exhilirating, frightening is more like it.

I guess it's not much of an issue when you are used to riding one, but many of us were first time users of this type of vehicle so we were apprehensive. Our guide kept reassuring us that it was okay. But with 11 people, only 2 guides, and high mountain slopes, you can't be too sure. True enough, we were horrified when on one of the slopes, one of my friends' ATV rolled over and pinned her! Que horror indeed! Many of my other friends jumped out of their moving ATVs to help her, there was pandemonium I tell you! We initially thought she only had scratches but it turns out, she had one of her legs broken. When the vehicle was turning over, she instinctively stuck out her leg to try to balance herself resulting in said injury.

It was a good thing that a hospital was nearby so she was treated for her injuries immediately. She's completely healed now but it made me look back and think about what we could have done after the incident. Who was responsible? Was it merely taken as an accident?

I searched the net and found that the type of ATV that we used, the Yamaha Rhino, were being recalled as these types of injuries were common. These Yamaha Rhino Rollover incidents were becoming more and more rampant due to the design of this particular model that lawsuits were being filed left and right. The Yamaha Rhino is narrow, top-heavy (high center of gravity) and it's small tires give the vehicle less stability. These are the reasons why there are more accidents whith this model. I told my friend about this and she is planning to prepare what she can do. We were both relieved to know that we had rights when it comes to these types of accidents.

My 6 Hours of Spa Heaven

Okay I need to post this while I'm still in my euphoric state. I just had 6 hours of spa bonding session with my mom and sister. It was so fun and relaxing! We had it at the Hotel Rembrandt Spa and it was such a delightful experience. May I say that the staff are super nice and galing? At first it looks as if the spa is quite small but the space doesn't really matter, the service was fantastic! We are definitely going back there.

So why 6 hours? We had a spa package. Got it from a friend. 6 hours of pure bliss! First we had a steam bath (which is free to use by the way) with free flowing iced tea (or coffee if you prefer), after our steam bath, we proceeded to have our salt body scrub and wrap. They rub your entire body with sea salt and oils that takes away the dead skin cells and leaves your skin so smooth! This treatment comes with a free scalp massage that's so relaxing I fell asleep hahaha! After rubbing you with sea salt, they wrap you up and leave the salt on your skin for about 15 to 30 minutes and then you rinse them away.

Right after our salt body scrub, we had our foot spa and hand paraffin. The wax is HOT but it left my hand soft, smooth and supple. Oh, and it smells wonderful too! Heaven I tell you! Foot being massaged while you watch the tellie while sipping endless iced tea (or coffee). You can close your eyes for a quick nap as well if you don't like to while your time away watching the tellie. Me? I watched the tellie and made chit chats with the staff hahaha!

After the foot spa and the hand paraffin was the therapeutic body massage. Gaaah! Can I just say heaven again? The massage took away all the stiffness of my joints and muscles that I fell asleep 2 minutes into it. From the scalp to the end of your toes, the massage just relaxes you and you feel energized after.

And the finale, manicure and pedicure. Sigh. I want to go back! As in this coming weekend! hahaha! But I want the facials when I go back. I just want to try everything! Addicted much? Nyahahaha!

So what's the deal with the spa session? It was my gift to my mom. It was her birthday yesterday so what better way to celebrate it than a relaxing, stress relieving spa date right? Just us girls. :) Needless to say, my mom, sis and I enjoyed every minute and we can't wait to go back for another round.

Irritated

I am very irritated with someone and as much as I would like to tell him off, I think it would be best to just keep this to myself..for now. I just hate how people can be so super phony sometimes. I hate how someone can just use you when they need something and then act like you don't exist all of a sudden. Makes me conscious of how I act now. Makes me consider how I treat people becuase I may (consioucly or unconsciously) treat them the same way. Sigh. I wish I could just go back to childhood where I could just get lost in my books and my music. It was a simpler life back then.

Isdaan, Gerona, Tarlac

I'm glad I got the chance to edit some pictures that have been sitting on my CF card for some time now. Last February, our team went up to Baguio for a bit of R and R. On our way home, we ate at Isdaan in Gerona, Tarlac. Boy was it fun! The place is huge but since we got there around noon time, it was super HOT! We were lucky to have been able to snag a floating 'hut' to sit on. The place was full and right before we left, there was a long line of waiting customers.

You'll never miss isdaan as it is located on the national highway. It's a great place to stop for lunch or dinner on your way to Baguio, La Union or Ilocos (or on your way back if your prefer). I just suggest you stop by late afternoon or evening as doing so during lunch time will make you really drip some sweat.

Isdaan is a sister company of the famous Barrio Fiesta so the good was good although it was quite expensive. We just got disappointed that an establishment like this does not accept credit cards. What's amusing are the huge stone giants within the vicinity. There are huge buddhas that will make you feel like you're in Thailand. There are also huge stone fishes that would delight your kids. Okay, enough talk. I just had so much fun taking picture. Let me share them with you.

Wood Furniture

The husband and I are seriously considering replacing our bed frame. As much as it has sentimental value to us, being the first bed we bought when we got married, it's condition is below par already and after 4 years I think it's high time we replace it with something more sturdy.

We are slowly renovating our room buying small pieces here and there and of course we do have a theme in mind - wood. We just love wood furniture and our search led us to this website where we found a bed we super love. It's made of oak and it's simple and it's classic and elegant look caught our eye. The fact that it is handcrafted made our hearts flutter in excitement. The price is quite steep though but we think it is worth it.

Isn't it lovely? Now we better go back to our budget and figure out when we can purchase this. As soon as possible we hope.

Peaceful

So how's your holy week so far?
Mine's been very peaceful. Stayed at home and spent time with the husbo and rested. My foot is not 100% healed yet. I still limp when I walk and it's still a bit swollen so I decided not to go to work and rest instead. This has been the most peaceful holy week I've had yet. I was used to going out of town ever since I was a kid and when I worked in a contact center, I was always at work (double pay for holiday hehe). It's actually nice staying at home for once.
How about you?

Credit Card Choices Made Easy

We're faving hard times nowadays, with the prices shooting up it's necessary to get loans these days from various banks to augment our income. In as much as this is frowned upon in financial advice columns, I think this is a necessity now.

One of the most common thing people apply for these days is a credit card. I am actually thinking of getting one myself for emergencies but my main problem is how do I know which credit card is good for me? We all know that those who have bad credit ranking seldom, if not, approved for credit cards. So what if you have bad credit? Is there such a thing as bad credit credit cards?

According to an article I read from dealsforcreditcards.com, it is possible to get a credit card if you have bad credit or no credit at all but you have to be very careful and not jump on the first offer you see. You need to know your credit score first and learn about any fees and charges that may be applied as these types of credit cards have higher interest rates and charges compared to those credit cards offered to those with good credit.

Kind of a lot to process huh? Well, if like me, you're planning to get a credit card, then I suggest you look at dealsforcreditcards.com first. They offer a wide array of services from that will help you decide on which credit card is do for you. You can use their website as a comparison guide and they also offer a vast choice of credit cards that will make choosing a credit card easy!

Sprained Ankle

I sprained my ankle and I am in pain. I feel like Bella of Twilight, so clumsy tripping while walking on a flat surface. Sigh. I have been on house and bed arrest since yesterday. The smallest moves makes me shout in pain. The husband, sweet as he is, treated me like a princess the entire time.

But, being treated like a princess or not, I needed to walk by Monday as I have a lot of deliverables. I called my dad and had him take me to this "manghihilot" in Binondo who uses shaolin techniques. It was my second time there so I knew what to expect..a whole lot of pain. It took the master less than 5 minutes to do his thing, It was painful alright but I am now able to walk on my injured leg. It's still throbbing but by tomorrow I'll be doing the happy dance. So I'm off to rest now. :)

The Fragrance of it All

My husband and I were walking at the mall the other day when this guy suddenly spritzed some perfume on me. I was about to mouth off when I smelled this really heavenly fragrance that got me all shushed. I loved the citrus scent and loved how girly girly the smell is.

Funny how a couple of years ago I wasn't really into perfumes. Heck, splash me some cologne from the department store and I'm fine. But since late last year I've been hoarding and getting my dresser full of perfumes. I don't know why but something about smelling good has got me feeling good. I feel on top of the world when I know I am fragrant. Call me crazy but I couldn't go out of the house without spritzing some of my favortie perfume on my wrist. I guess you could say the same thing about clothes and shoes and bags for some girls, but for me perfumes are it!

now I can't help but search online for new realeased fragrances so toodles for now! :)

Never Act on Your Assumptions

The issue I had to deal with a couple of months back taught me a lot of things. But what stood out from all of it was that I was right about one thing: "Never act on your assumptions." I was supposed to say "Never assume" but as people, we can't really control that. We have a tendecy to assume based on stories we've heard, based on connect-the-dot stories and experiences. I guess that's okay as long as you get a hold of yourself and "Never act on your assumptions."

I still feel jaded. I still am paranoid about a lot of things. What makes me sad is that I now have a hard time trusting people. Even when I have the need to vent out on my frustrations, I now keep it to myself because I can't trust people anymore. Sigh.

But anyway, I just love this quote by Don Miguel Ruiz in his book "The Four Agreements". This is from Agreement number 3: Don't Make Assumptions. It's just so true!

Our minds have the need to “know.” When we don’t know, we make assumptions - they make us feel safer than not knowing. And we are pretty much always making assumptions. We assume that we know how someone is going to react to us. We assume that our efforts will or will not be successful. And not only do we believe our assumptions about what other people are thinking, but then we end up taking those assumptions personally and even end up resenting the person. To avoid assumptions, ask questions. It takes courage to trust the present moment, to allow other people to be exactly who they are, and to let life unfold according to its own plan… and it avoids a great deal of suffering.

Catching Fire!

Oooh! Another movie for me to watch out for! Catching Fire will come to theaters November 22, 2013!  Here's a sneak peek of the releas...
